Khan and Salinsky’s debut play, the political satire COALITION, was a smash sell-out success at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2012 (Pleasance Dome) gathering a straight sweep of 14 four and five-star reviews. “Real class, don’t miss it” ★★★★ Times, “…slick and funny” ★★★★ Scotsman, “…cracking dialogue” ★★★★ Metro, “…an absolute gem” ★★★★★ Sunday Express.
Set a few years in the future, in 2015, when Britain’s then coalition government only had six months left to run, relations between the slick, PR driven, Conservative Prime Minister and his frenetic Lib Dem deputy had broken down. Lib Dem Leader Matt Cooper had to make a series of last-minute gambles to try and save his party from destruction…
The play starred Thom Tuck, Phill Jupitus, Jo Caulfield, Jessica Regan, John Dorney, Phil Mulryne, Alistair Barrie and Simon Evans. It was featured on Kirsty Wark’s EDINBURGH NIGHTS on BBC2 as well as Channel 4 and received wide press and broadcast coverage.
The script was developed following a series of readings at the Leicester Square Theatre starring Diana Quick and after being workshopped at RADA by resident dramaturg Lloyd Trott.
The script book was published by Playdead Press for the London revival at the Pleasance Islington, in February / March 2013.
